He blends in so perfectly it's hard to believe he's not Brazilian; he's deft in rhythmic support, and never pushes too much on his solos. The cello of Jaques Morelenbaum is, as always, achingly beautiful and the piano sound of Sakamoto is eerily like that of Jobim himself. The inclusion of the great guitarist, Luiz Brasil and Marcelo Costa at percussion puts this album over the top. My favorite song on the album? The heart-rending *Chora Coração* by Jobim and de Moraes. The tender approach of Mr. Sakamoto's piano is felt like a light ocean spray shifting between the organic sounds of Mr. Morelenbaum's cello and the warm and sensuous vocals of his wife Paula, sends ones senses aflame with melodic passion and a beautiful intimacy is felt. ℗2001 WARNER MUSIC JAPAN INC. So it's entirely fitting that the Morelenbaums, along with pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, should journey to Jobim 's idyllic music room in his home above Rio de Janeiro to make some intimate on-the-spot recordings of Jobim 's music -- with Sakamoto playing Jobim 's own grand piano. The cello of Jaques Morelenbaum is, as always, achingly beautiful and the piano sound of Sakamoto is eerily like that of Jobim himself. The inclusion of the great guitarist, Luiz Brasil and Marcelo Costa at percussion puts this album over the top. It allows me to be creative (mostly in Portugese, it doesn't interfere with my ENglish-only brain) and it provides the support of others' artistic practice.
